Seventy ‘Til Spring

70 more days

10 more weeks

Just 10 more Mondays

Then spring breaks through

I’m done with other counting and countdowns:

  • C19 cases
  • Midterm elections
  • Virtual assemblies by the thousands: business meetings, family gatherings, less-than-happy hours
  • Tracking Omicron (though in a first for this dessert lover, I’m hoping there will be no Pi)

Only one day counts now

The start of the first 2022 solstice will be one for the history books

Time’s relentless forward march forging a welcome milestone

Bringing with it new beginnings, new opportunities

A breath of fresh air as we journey back outside and – dare I say it? – begin to congregate safely once again, to re-connect face-to-face as a community

How far we’ll have come by then

Since our annual blooming rite of passage in 2020

When most in North America were merely one week in

Blissfully unaware of the long haul that would follow

Of the isolating, emotionally twisty road ahead

70 more days and nights

‘Til the promise of a new era arrives
