No writer worth a damn would ever think to publish (even if anyone was willing to indulge them) an improvised rough draft. Creativity and inspiration, combined, are the easy part (!); the real art is in the process of revision.
But a writer with a modest, at best, social media game, equipped with no script and his smartphone, has no choice but to point, shoot, and speak.
These four brief videos comprise what I’d modestly call a shallow dive into the wonders of this compound in the heart of old town Winchester. This series of unused and otherwise disregarded buildings that will become a robust and vibrant center for writers: the Virginia Center for Literary Arts.
Suffice it to say, the buildings, while historic (in literal and figurative terms), also need a considerable amount of TLC, and the renovations will require an investment of about $1 million. How do I plan to raise it? One penny at a time, obviously. If you –or someone you know– might be interested in a tax deductible donation for a 501(c)(3) non-profit, let me know or make a contribution!
