MOVEABLE FEAST: GOING GLOBAL

The vision for this initiative, an informal consortium of friends who all not only believe in building community, but recognize it’s never been more critical, has been a work-in-progress since the pre-Covid days. As we tentatively begin to travel and gather again, with fingers crossed and optimism that we’re eventually returning to a pre-pandemic world, albeit with necessary adjustments for our collective “new normal,” 1455 is thrilled to report that it’s on: Moveable Feast is happening.

It was wonderful to kick things off this fall, our first collaboration with the visionary V. Hansmann of Prospect Street (more on that here). As a reminder, 1455’s Moveable Feast initiative enables us to partner with existing venues and organizations, providing opportunities for storytellers to find authentic space to create and connect.

Having planned and plotted with the founding directors of the Todos Santos Writing Workshop, it was most definitely both honor and blessing to be part of their tenth annual gathering. About them, in brief: The Todos Santos Writers Workshop, founded in 2014, is a center for creative writing based in the historic pueblo mágico of Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. TSWW offers workshops in Fiction, Memoir, Poetry, and Storytelling Strategies for writers at all levels. Written works are read and critiqued in a supportive, participatory setting. Writers may also register for one-on-one mentoring sessions by appointment with any faculty member. (See much more about their mission, history, and why they gather in this magical place, at todossantoswritersworkshop.com).

As this photo gallery makes clear, in ways words never could, TSWW is the culmination of careful strategic thought, attention to every conceivable detail, and the inevitable result of writers obsessed with connecting with—and helping—other writers. Special gratitude to Jeanne McCulloch, Rex Weiner, and Karen Karbo, all of whom have utilized their unique talents and passions to establish a unique and miraculous experience (Learn more about them and this year’s faculty, here). Is 1455’s Moveable Feast a fit for you? In 2023, who couldn’t benefit from the chance to workshop, network, and soak in the sensations of a beautiful locale? Time away from our routines and the rare opportunity to be amongst others who are serious about their craft is a gift, and naturally conducive to inspiration. Find out more about our partners and future plans, and how you can get involved, here.
