IT COULD BE YOU

Amidst a global pandemic the opioid epidemic is surging. Washington, DC is among the many cities across the nation taking action and rethinking addiction. “It Could Be You” is a short film raising awareness to the inequalities of compassion and access to resources for opioid addiction. This piece is a call to action for communities to rethink addiction and reevaluate how we support and view others.

Research and leading doctors have communicated that addiction is caused from stress and trauma, both internally or externally. This piece is called Rae. It is a physical presentation uplifting the internal battle of someone struggling with addiction, while attempting to overcome challenges (personal and societal). Each day is an active choice and a new start on the road of recovery.

My name is Ciara Hines, and I’ve been dancing since the age of 2. I have trained in all styles such as jazz, lyrical, hip hop, tap, contemporary, acro, and even contortion. I am extremely passionate about dancing. Expressing myself hasn’t always been easy; nonetheless, when I am dancing, I imagine myself being transported to a zone where I am unrestricted, stress-free, and unequivocally poised. Additionally, dancing taught me the value of hard work, perseverance and humility. I’ve been featured in documentaries/ short films such as “In Time” and “It Could Be You.” I was also a special guest on CTV’s “Prince George’s Youth.” As well as being featured in multiple magazines such as “Dance Feature Magazine,” “CoreReader,” “Big City Kids,” and many more! I’ve toured and danced backup at the Rock Your Hair concerts back in 2017 & 2018. As well assisting professional dance instructors from all around the world. All in all, dance is my everything and I couldn’t imagine my life without it.
