1455’s Author Series at Handley Regional Library continues with Chris Register, who will read from his book Conversations With US.
Unwilling to let the pollsters and pundits define his country, lawyer Chris Register traded his mesh Aeron chair for a stiff bicycle seat and set out to discover the real America. The result: 16,000 miles of adventure, self-reflection, gear failures, kindness and indifference from strangers, spectacular vistas, loneliness, and unforgiving weather—and that’s just his side of the story. The heart of Conversations With US beats with the words of hundreds of everyday people offering their thoughts on what it means to be American. After nearly 400 interviews and a cumulative year on the road, Chris is now working to share the story of this modern American odyssey.
1455’s Founding Director Sean Murphy and the author will discuss the process of writing this book and the contemporary literary scene, followed by an open Q&A.
Copies of Chris’s book will be available for sale and signing, courtesy of the Winchester Book Gallery.
This is a free event!
